Glacier skiing in the Zillertal
Whether spring, summer, autumn or winter, the Hintertux Glacier awaits with exciting adventures and fascinating discoveries, 365 days a year. Due to the altitude and fantastic weather conditions on the glacier, several pistes and lifts can be in operation earlier and longer than in many other ski resorts. The valley station is just a minute’s ride away from the Hotel Alpenhof, and the free shuttle bus will collect you a mere 50 metres from our front door (at 5-minute intervals from October until May).
Beginners as well as experienced skiers and snowboarders will find a total of 60 km of varied pistes of all levels of difficulty in the Hintertux Glacier ski resort. A real attraction for deep snow fans are the amazing Freeride runs in the Lärmstange area. Snowboarders and freeskiers alike will appreciate the Freestyle options available at the Betterpark Hintertux at an altitude of 3,200 m or in the family-friendly Familypark Hintertux on Sommerberg. Aspiring little skiing pros can practise on the magic carpets of the Glacier Flea Park and on the baby lifts.

THE BEST PLACES FOR A PIT STOP ON THE HINTERTUX GLACIER
Take a break at an altitude of just under 3,000 metres: In the Spannagelhaus at an altitude of 2,531 metres, guests can enjoy an authentic mountain atmosphere, relaxing hours on the sun terrace, a bar area with an open fireplace, and great food and drink in the restaurant with table service. The Spannagelhaus is only open during the winter season. The Tuxer Fernerhaus at an altitude of 2,660 m is open all year round. The restaurant “Wirtshaus am Tuxer Ferner includes a panorama bar, spacious self-service restaurant, and a sun terrace with free sun loungers.
THE SKI HOTEL ALPENHOF
For added convenience and a fuss-free start to your day on the slopes, we can issue your ski pass at reception or when you make your reservation. If you require skis or accessories, you may rent them from Sport Nenner next door at a reduced rate (discount of 10%). Our state-of-the-art ski storage cellar provides every room with a heated locker for skis and ski boots. Your skiing adventure in Hintertux can begin!
And with the purchase of a ski pass valid for 2 days or longer, the entire Zillertal ski resort is included, with 542 kilometres of pistes and 180 lift facilities.
Sunshine Skiing & Flower Pow(d)er
If you would like to extend the skiing season way into spring, the Hintertux Glacier is the place for you. Thanks to guaranteed snow from October until may, skiers may also swish down the perfectly prepared pistes during the mild, sun-drenched days of spring. For added fun and excitement, drop in at the “Flower Pow(d)er” springtime event on the glacier: Guided tours, workshops, the possibility to try out the newest winter sports models as well as snowboard freestyle coaching sessions attract guests from all over.

Glaciers have always been one-of-a-kind natural attractions, with their bizarre ice fields, unfathomable crevasses, rugged rocks and gentle snow dunes. The Natural Ice Palace of the Hintertux Glacier is a wonderful attraction for all age groups, thanks to its mysterious ice formations and glittering ice crystals in a setting that is steeped in legends. In Europe’s highest show cave, the Spannagel Cave on the Hintertux Glacier, visitors can make their way through a fascinating labyrinth of marble and sinter.
