The Zillertal has more to offer than hiking trails, cycling routes and the Tux Worlds: From the Spannagel Cave to the Spruce Tree Castle and the panorama terrace on an altitude of 3,250 metres, from where you can even seen the Großglockner. And if the weather doesn’t cooperate, there are lots of “dry” destinations and activities to enjoy around the Hotel Alpenhof!
The access point to the subterranean Spannagel Cave on the Hintertux Glacier is below the Spannagelhaus. Together with a guide, you will explore this labyrinth of marble and sinter, past dripstones and glacier mills. You might also spot a bat or two!
The Natural Ice Palace on the Hintertux Glacier at an altitude of 3,250 metres harbours a unique cave system that visitors may explore. Together with a guide, you will discover magical ice crystals, frozen waterfalls, and glittering stalactites.
In the wooden castle on Rosenalm pasture, anyone can be a knight or a lady for the day! The castle is located on an adventure playground, complete with a treetop trail, on the shore of deep green Lake Fichtensee. Climb the four towers and move between them, if your dare - they are linked by connecting bridges!
The peak of indulgence: The mountain station “Gefrorene Wand” on the Hintertux Glacier with its very own panorama terrace! Even the ride on Gletscherbus 3, probably the most spectacular cable car in the Alps, is an unparalleled adventure to enjoy during your holiday in Tux. The breathtaking panorama stretches from the Großglockner via the Dolomites and all the way to the Zugspitze.
Nature enthusiasts will find lots of opportunities for having fun and relaxing around Lake Ahornsee. A hike along Ahornbach creek is never boring, thanks to the water oases and play zones just waiting to be discovered.
